TSUKI
HOME WORKS ABOUT CONTACT
TSUKI is born from an artistic collaboration based on two principles; imperfection and integration.
Imperfection and all its aesthetic connotations is defined by the Wabi Sabi philosophy of Japanese origin. It therefore refers to the material and linguistic content of each work, from its interiors to the packaging.
Integration, for its part, relates to the process and form of co-creation, that is, artistic collaboration. Each work is the result of the integration of two disciplines, sculpture and poetry.
From the selection of materials to the application of pigments, each sculptural technique has been reflected in poetic creation.
Manuel, inspired by the American sculptor and poet Carl André, has created each word through a meta-linguistic process, replicating the moulds and textures of the sculptural pieces in the poetic field.
Each TSUKI is made from mineral resin, a sustainable material that has come to the studio to stay. They also carry mussel shells, with their iridescence and their approach to the Atlantic Ocean and as a way to reuse and give a second life to the materials we discard from nature.
Starting with the principles of Wabi Sabi, a Japanese philosophy rooted in the value of the imperfect, the changeable and the incomplete, this work synthesizes the Japanese and Spanish savoir-faire.
Lia B Studio has designed this ouvre and Manuel has conceptualized its edges, that is, its expressive aspects.
Each piece follows the principles of the Wabi Sabi; respecting the original characteristics of the materials used (texture, porosity and durability). The inscriptions enhance the functional and ritual significance of the work through a haiku (a Japanese-original poem of three lines) deconstructed into several independent expressions.
Thus, the poems inscribed on the packaging of each work attest to the ritual of co-creation.
The commercial version includes:
- A Tsuki base candle holder in navy blue or white
- An incense holder
- A set of Japanese incense Nippon Kodo
- A haiku in Spanish + a ritual card
- A handmade stamped box
